Blogger Awards

It is always an honor and a joy to receive awards from peers in the blogosphere. Recently the New Author received two awards. The first was the Lemonade Stand award from Rebecca over at From Brain 2 Bookshelf.

Although I do not have the badge to display I wanted to mention this award. I discovered that The Lemonade Stand Award is presented to people with a good attitude or sense of gratitude. I can honestly say that all of you in the New Author community make it very easy to have a good and/or positive attitude.

The badge I am displaying here is the "Noblesse Oblige" award given to the New Author by the Prodigal Tourist over at a Prodigal Tourist. The "Noblesse Oblige" award is given to those
recognized for the following: My comments in parenthesis.

1) The Blogger manifests exemplary attitude, respecting the nuances that pervades amongst different cultures and beliefs. (wow, this is a big one!)
2) The Blog contents inspire; strives to encourage and offers solutions. (I hope I inspire and encourage. That is what the New Author is here for.)
3) There is a clear purpose at the Blog; one that fosters a better understanding on Social, Political, Economic, the Arts, Culture and Sciences and Beliefs. (Maybe not all of them)
4) The Blog is refreshing and creative. (You tell me...I try to keep it refreshing and creative.)
5) The Blogger promotes friendship and positive thinking. (We are a community here.)

The rules state that I am to hand out these awards to others. However, I seem to be late to the party in handing these out as many of you already have one if not both of them. With that said, I will hand out the "Noblesse Oblige" award but I do not have the badge to hand out the Lemonade Stand Award.

I always mess it up - people thoughtfully give me awards and I don't have time to return the beautiful favor! I'm horrid about it - always appreciative, though...but I feel a bit guilty when people give me one and I don't do what I'm supposed to!

OH! and CONGRATS on your deserving award!

Well done--you deserve it for putting up with all our silly questions! And regarding awards: think most people enjoy them, though one blogger said he considers them a modern version of a chain letter. So there you are--everyone's a critic.

Kathryn - Thank you. Yes, I feel guilty at times to. Even though I don't have the Lemonade Stand award badge to give I still feel like I should name recipients of it.

PT - A question is never silly because we always learn. I welcome the questions anytime. Thank you for this award.

Congrats, Brian ... you certainly deserve both awards! And thank you, so much, for honoring me with an award. You made my day!

I'm terrible about awards ... I am always so happy when I receive one but it seems that I just don't get around to following through on the rules and passing them on. But I do appreciate it ... and I thank you for this one!

Congratulations. I LOVE getting and giving blog awards. Every little bit of encouragement helps, especially for those who aren't too sure of their writing skills.
Great blog BTW.

SF - I agree, at times I get really busy that a week will pass and I'm left feeling like I forgot to do something. I try to pass on all the awards the New Author receives though. Congrats to you as well. I think your site meets all the item listed above.

TC - Thank you and welcome to the New Author. It is great how your peers and friends can give you support and encouragement in a fun way.

Bernard - Thank you my friend. It was my pleasure to give you this award.

Jo-Anne - Thank you partner.

Since I'm fairly new to blogging, I'm probably not jaded enough to be bored by these awards. I was given the Lemonade Stand not too long ago, and I felt quite honored. I think these awards are important too, because we writers don't hear good things about ourselves often enough. And we all know how often we beat up ourselves (or our own writing). Its nice to hear someone else appreciates what we're trying to do, and Brian, this blog falls completely in the realm of exceptional blogging sites.

Brian said...

Eric - You are correct. We writers are often a jaded bunch because we do get very critical about our writing. It is a really great thing to get that pat on the back. Thank you also for the compliment. I truly appreciate it.

Hi Brian

Haven't been online for a while so I missed this. Glad you're happy with the award. I wasn't sent the graphic when I won it either - just pop across to my site and copy the graphic then you can put it up and give it out to 10 more people if you like.
